Spike says:
- Much like its Health Valley sibling ("Old
Fashioned Root Beer"), it is very light and pours with a medium,
short-lived head, but this one has more carbonation, making it average
in that department. Fortunately, this one doesn't have the strong molasses
taste of the aforementioned other Health Valley drink. The molasses
is noticeable and is still the dominant flavor, but the flavor is pleasantly
subtle. I tried hard to pick out the other flavors but couldn't single
any one out. While this drink lacks bite, it does have a good taste.
Just about the right sweetness for such a mild tasting drink All in
all a very good offering. That doesn't mean I understand the ingredient
list..."sarsaparilla flavoring of licorice root extract:"?
It doesn't sound like it's made with real sarsaparilla (our favorite
carcinogen). If I made cookies and told you it had "vanilla flavoring
of raw sewage extract", would you think I used real vanilla or
something I thought tasted like vanilla? The label, however, reads "Real
sarsaparilla root beer...", so from that you would think it has
real sarsaparilla in it. In any case, don't be put off by Health Valley's
"Old Fashioned Root Beer" - this one is much better. I give
it a B.
