- Manufacturer:
- The Rocky Mountain Soda Brew Company, Golden Colorado 80401
- The Pitch:
- This ain't no dime store root beer! Rawhide Rootbeer has a taste as
smooth as a broke-in saddle and a rich, creamy finish that can really
satisfy a hot, dusty "cowperson's" mountainous thirst. Handmade
with good, clean Rocky Mountain water and wild, ethically harvested
herbs and berries including honey mesquite and wintergreen. Real roots
too - like licorice, sarsaparilla and yucca - just like the concoctions
brewed up by mountain men of the Old West. Rawhide Rootbeer contains
no caffeine so you'll keep ridin' easy and steady along the trail.
- The Ingredients:
- Sparkling Rocky Mountain water, high fructose corn syrup, natural
flavors, caramel color, quillaia bark, yucca root, sodium benzoate (preserves
freshness), citric acid and brewed Rocky Mountain herbs, roots, and
berries.

Spike says:
- A mild rootbeer with less carbonation than most; this may be the reason
this brew is "headless" when poured. Lighter in color, it
does not look appealing when sitting in a glass. The lack of head and
bubbles gives it the appearance of a cool, frosty mug of tea. Yum. True
to the claims on the box, this root beer does have a creamy taste -
the first thing that came to my mind when drinking it was "cream
soda". It's not an unpleasant taste, just a little unexpected.
I've never tasted "a broke-in saddle" so I can't confirm their
claims of smoothness; its mild taste may be attributed to their ethical
harvesting methods (whatever that means). Perhaps if they abused the
roots and berries a bit the root beer might have a little more zing.
Rawhide Rootbeer is drinkable and unlikely to offend anyone, though
it's only distinguishing characteristic is the hint of creme soda they've
added. While I came very very close to giving it a B-, it just wasn't
quite good enough. I give it a C+.
